BANK OF AFRICA-RWANDA inaugurates its new head office IN KIGALI : A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS

BANK OF AFRICA Group proudly marked a major milestone in Rwanda with the inauguration of its new Head Office in Kigali — celebrating at the same time the Bank’s 10th anniversary and opening a new chapter of growth and ambition.

Since its launch in 2015, following the transformation of a microfinance institution into a fully-fledged commercial bank, BANK OF AFRICA – RWANDA has experienced a remarkable journey, driven by a clear vision : to become a key partner in Rwanda’s economic development.

A decade of strong growth and transformation

In just ten years, BOA – RWANDA has achieved significant progress:

  • The workforce has doubled, growing from 110 employees at inception to 204 today, with 99% local talent
  • A young and dynamic team, with an average age of 37 and a strong gender balance (52% women)
  • More than 29,000 clients served across corporate, SME and retail segments
  • A balance sheet reaching USD 137 million at the end of 2025

This success story is first and foremost a human one. It reflects the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of all teams, as well as the strong foundations laid by previous leadership.

The new Head Office reflects BANK OF AFRICA – RWANDA’s commitment to providing an enhanced banking experience, fostering innovation, and creating a modern environment that supports collaboration, operational excellence, and future growth. Designed to meet the evolving needs of customers and employees alike, the new premises stand as a symbol of the Bank’s long-term commitment to Rwanda.

Reflecting on the Bank’s first decade of operations, the Managing Director highlighted both the pride and responsibility that come with the milestone:

“These first ten years make us proud. But they also make us responsible — responsible to do better, to innovate further, and to remain an ethical, inclusive, and committed bank, serving the Rwandan economy with integrity and impact.”

In his remarks, the Group CEO underscored the Bank’s strategic direction for the years ahead, emphasizing the Group’s long-term commitment to Rwanda:

“The first 10 years were about building a strong foundation. The next decade will be about scale, impact, and sustainability. BANK OF AFRICA is here to stay — and to grow alongside Rwanda.”
